John Taing specializes in accounting, auditing, business risk management and controls and business valuations. John has over fifteen years of professional experience serving global clients. His industry exposure includes audits for benefit plans, governmental, housing and urban development, domestic and offshore hedge funds, funds-of-funds, fixed income funds, private equity funds, venture capital firms, management companies, as well as Service Organization Control reviews and Global Investment Performance Standards compliance, Business and Entity Valuations, Forensic Accounting, and Fraud Examinations. Prior to joining the firm, John was a Senior Manager in the Los Angeles Financial Services practice of Ernst & Young, LLP. John served as auditor for U.S based companies ranging from $10 million to $52 billion of committed capital under management specializing in hedge fund and private equity audits. John also served as the Los Angeles subject matter advisor to Global Investment Performance Standards reviews.

John plays an integral part in all audits, business valuations, and forensic and fraud examinations of TYWL including planning, strategy, execution and conclusion of audits and engagements. He concentrates in benefit plans, retail & wholesale, hospitality and technology industries. John is highly involved in fair value measurement and presentation and disclosure in accordance with GAAP, and has advised clients on current industry issues involving revenue recognition, distinguishing liabilities from equity, purchase accounting and liquidation accounting. John has experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Statements on Standards for Accounting and Review Services, Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice, CFE Code of Professional Standards, and compliance testing, he has extensive experience in technical accounting matters including but not limited to areas of estimation, investment and business valuation, goodwill, evaluation, compliance and forensic accounting. 

John received his bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of California and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a Certified Advanced Defined Contribution Plans Auditor. John is Accredited in Business Valuations and a member of the AICPA Forensic and Valuation Services Section. He is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
